Prerequisite: Mat 220 or current enrollment in Mat 220 Textbook: Overview Case Study by Alan Van HuevelenWorkbook: Active Physics 1 by Alan Van Huevelen Attendance: You are required to attend all class and lab sessions. A student is responsible to make up the missed material. Grading criteria Labs: 20%of the total grade. Labs will be done in a group of 3 or 4 students. Each student needs to turn in a separate lab report. Only data can be common among the group members, all other work needs to be done independently. A lab report is due a week from the lab day. Handouts for most of the labs will be provided. Some lab reports need to be written from scratch. Video reports on videos watched in class/lab will earn credit for one lab. Tests: 30% of the total grade. Three tests will be given.
(Please see an attached schedule) Final Exam: 20% of the total grade. Multiple choice, closed book, notes comprehensive. Homework: 10% of total grade. Problems will be assigned from the workbook. See attached schedule. Collaborative activity: 10% of the total grade. Projects will be assigned in class to work in groups. You need to be present and participate actively in order to get full credit. Each group does white board presentation to rest of the class and submits a written report. Quizzes: 10% Group quizzes will be given in the beginning of the class. Grading policy: 88 % and above - A |
