The chemistry faculty at Eastern Arizona College want every student to gain a greater appreciation for the role that chemistry plays in their life and the world around them.
THE LABORATORY EXPERIENCE

Our chemistry labs provide an exciting learning experience for students. The labs are equipped with current instrumentation, including gas chromatographs, milligram balances, digital thermometers, a polarimeter, melting point apparatus, refractometer, Nicolet Impact 410 FTIR, and Digital UV spectrophotometers to name a few. Labs are designed to help students develop critical thinking skills, communication skills, social skills, while having a valuable learning experience.

Many of our labs include the use of computers for data acquisition. With less time being taken to collect data, the student is able to concentrate on the concepts being explored in the lab. Our students are also able to see how chemistry is vital to our community as they embark on a rewarding field trip to the Phelps Dodge Mine.

AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH

Each year the Chemistry Department hosts a Student Chemistry Adventure (S=CH-A) for high school students. We invite several high schools in the state of Arizona to come to our campus in Thatcher, Arizona and participate in an exciting day of fun, chemistry activities. The chemistry students at Eastern Arizona College play a major part in organizing and running this activity. The day ends with EAC chemistry students performing a Chemistry Magic Show for the participants. Our students find this a fun, learning, and rewarding experience.

WE FULLFILL YOUR EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Our Chemistry Department is designed to fullfill the needs of each college student. We offer the core courses for all science majors. We also offer General Education courses for those students wanting to take a fun laboratory science course.
