ABSENTEE
POLICY
To be successful in General Organic
Chemistry, it is essential that you attend classes regularly. If this is not possible, then arrangements should
be made with the instructor in advance.
CHEATING
POLICY
Cheating
will not be tolerated. Anyone found
cheating will receive an automatic "F" for the particular assignment,
lab, or exam. A second offense will result in dismissal from the course with a
final course grade of "F."
EXAMINATION POLICY
Exams will
be given at the end a combination of two or three chapters in the text. Each exam will be worth 100 points. Only in
very rare, extreme cases will make-up exams be given. Exams will comprise 50%
of the grade. The lowest exam score will be dropped.
HOMEWORK (15%)
Homework
assignments will be given over each chapter covered. Some assignments will be done in groups. All homework will be added together and will
count 15% of the grade. Late homework will only be accepted if it is turned in
within 5 class periods. Homework turned in late will receive a maximum of 50%. Two late assignments
will be forgiven with no penalty.

wearing clothing that comes above the knee will not be allowed in lab. Sleeveless clothing is also not
permitted. If this is a burden, a lab
coat may be borrowed. Open-toed shoes are not permitted in the lab (i.e.
sandals). Chemical splash goggles will be provided and will be worn at all
times. Each student is required to
maintain a lab notebook. The lab notebook will be due by Friday at 11:00 AM.
The lowest lab grade will be dropped.
